A Little About the Vyatka Region
Kirov region has long been famous for its rich cultural traditions, which are manifested in
creativity, crafts, hobbies and talents of its residents. The development of these spheres is connected with
the history and geographical location of the region, as well as the diverse ethnic composition of its
population, and, of course, with the hard work of local residents, who continue delighting us
with their bright works of art.
One of the famous and unique crafts of the Kirov region is the Dymkovo
toy. This colorful and bright clay sculpture has become a symbol of the city.
The Kirov region also
has such folk crafts as weaving from willow, making wooden toys, embroidery, and others. These crafts are
transferred through generations. Many talented musicians, artists, writers, poets, and athletes were born
here.
Different festivals and competitions are often held in the region where residents can show their
talents.

Elena Shikhova is a craftswoman from Oparino. She delights everyone with her incredible work. She believes that
nothing is impossible. All her works are amazing, whether weaving birch, ceramics, painting or patchwork. Each
exposition of Elena Shikhova’s exhibitions is a highlight that amazes the audience with both creative intentions
and skill.

Elena Rusakova is a famous lace maker from the Kirov region. She wove her first lace at 13! " I love bright lace
souvenirs. Shiny white and golden snowflakes, red stars or blue brooches - flowers. Color gives the product
brightness and individuality," - says Elena.

True miracles of ancient craftsmanship take place in the Vyatka weaving workshop. Galina Nekrasova from Kirov
makes rugs, baskets, bags and gladly teaches others to work with a loom. She uses knitted yarn, secondary flax,
cotton, and jute as materials. The products look like in an ancient style.

Galina Ustinova is a well-known artist, master of folk crafts of the Kirov region, participant in numerous
exhibitions both in the Vyatka region and beyond. Her dedication to studying painting techniques, passion for
woodcarving and painting, work with clay served as inspiration for the first solo exhibition.
